CSS Digital ART talks to us about her art, answering 10 questions, using the 5 W’s
(Who, What, Where, When, Why).
WHO
Who are you?
CSS Digital ART is Cristina Simó, a digital art creator from Barcelona.
Who are your favourite artists?
Mainly Renaissance and Baroque painters such as Botticeli, Michelangelo, Raffaello, Dürer, Rembrandt, Murillo and especially the dark side of Goya. About Modern Art, I am fascinated by the work of Picasso, Dalí, Miró and Antoni Tàpies.
WHAT
What themes does your art focus on?
I basically focus on looking around, especially on landscaps, on elements that catch my eye, I take a picture of them, and then I make a completely different interpretation of the original images.
What is your hallmark as an artist?
Maybe a special way to see my own reality. I love playing with exposure, contrast, glow and colors.
What music or other audio do you listen to while you work?
I do not usually listen to any type of music while I am creating.
WHEN
When did you decide that art was part of you and your life?
I’ve always loved art since I was a child, but it was in my teens when it really struck me. For example, going to the Uffizi Gallery in Florence for the first time and seeing the works that I had studied at high school moved me.
WHERE
Where do you work on your artwork?
I try to take pictures on my outings and trips and then I work from home with the computer.
Where would you like to see your artworks exhibited?
In a cozy place with also good music, food and friends.
WHY
Why do you make art?
Because it makes me feel complete, it de-stresses me and calms me down.
Why do you think art is important in our society?
Through art we can communicate and express ourselves. I think it is absolutely necessary for every human being to feel connected to others and to find in art a way of expression.
